Hector:

I purchased the Peerblock list a few weeks ago. Because I think its a very good idea to prevent others from eaze droping into your internet activities. I added some of the items from various iblock list after i purchased the list. I also have it run automatically everytime I turn on my Windows XP.

I also use "Skype" for many years now.

Lately I noticed that my Skype was acting strangely. It was sometimes not connecting properly. Or even if "connected" to Skype, I was having a hard time either me not being able to see the people on my list. Or they not being able to see me.

I un-installed and re-installed my Skype and also fully ran my anti-virus and anti-spyware softare to try to fix the problem.

But still. The same bad connection problem.

This kept on and on daily. And i could not understand why.

Then today it dawned on me that it could be something in the Peerblock list that is affecting my Skype connnection.

So I "experimented". Every time I turned "on" Peerblock....i would get connection problem. But whenever i would "turn off" Peer Block....no connection problem.

Then i slowly experimented...turning "off" or "on" each list on Peerblock.

Then I narrowed the problem down to this "Primary Threats" list

Now I want to know what should i do to make Skype always work while I have the list on.

Im sure there are thousands of other Peerblock users that have Skype and this could be affecting them also. So this has to be fixed for them as well. Since Skype is a popular messenger program.

Thanks

@ Hector

Might have to do with its acquisition by Microsoft.
You may want to try using the Microsoft list as an allow list.

If you post the IP(s) being blocked then we may be able to get a better idea.

Small, but annoying little problem that Audible.com users may want to take note of.
An error in an unrelated IP range causes the audiobook sampling function to fail.

Range is:
"Merck and Co., Inc. 54.0.0.0 - 54.255.255.255"
Should be "54.0.0.0 - 54.223.255.255".

As you can see, this interferes with "Amazon.com, Inc. 54.240.128.0 - 54.240.191.255" which apparently utilizes these for audio/media serving for Audible.com.
I verified these ranges using whois.arin.net. and by allowing Amazon range in PeerBlock (or whatever blocker you use) and seemed to correct problem.

If you believe there is an error with the list you can contact the list author.

Is anyone else having trouble with accessing their Hotmail account, unless HTTP Blocking is turned off?

I have done some trial and error, and I found the IP address that causes Skype to have the gray continuous "turning" sign:
65.55.223.20

I don't use Skype for anything else other than to instant message friends, because "MS Hotmail" was listed in the blocked sections, as long as many other Microsoft IP connections.
Fakhir, if you want me to post all of the Microsoft blocked connections just by opening Skype with this list, then just say the word :D

Also, what is the list, exclusions, for anyways?
